Jackson's POV
I took a deep breath, not knowing how to start. "I wanted to explain things. You never gave me a chance 8 years ago and I've been trying to find you ever since. Then when I found out you were with that Harley guy I gave up for a while thinking maybe you had found true love or some shit."
"I thought I loved him but I never did, not like what I feel for you, Jackson. I just can't trust you. So we can't be together. You know that."
I couldn't help but notice her trying not to cry. "If it hurts you so bad to be without me then why not give in?"
"Trust, Jackson, trust."
I sighed. "Alright, so can I explain?" I tried to change the subject a bit.
"Go ahead." She motioned me to continue.
"So, Cadence. She was pregnant to begin with. She just wanted to get me away from you. Which looks like her plan worked, huh?" I gave her a half grin.
"She WHAT? She lied about being pregnant?" I saw her tense.
"Yes. I tried to tell you she was a manipulative crazy bitch." I shook my head. "But anyway, I NEVER slept with her. I wouldn't have done that to you."
"We were having problems between us at the time. So you could have."
"No, I didn't even meet her until after we got back together. Ask Derek. He'll tell you."
She sighed. "You know he's living in the Great Hallow now don't you?" My mouth dropped.
"No, shit?"
"No, shit. He lives about 2 blocks that way." She pointed to her left.
"I'll have to drop in on him sometime." I chuckled.
Jade's POV
I shook my head. I couldn't believe him, we were all serious then he was laughing about not knowing Derek was living nearby. "You are to much, Jackson."
He laughed again. "Yeah, I know." That even made me laugh.
"Ok, ok. All joking aside now. Let's talk."
"Alright, where was I? Oh yeah, you could ask Derek when I met her. He was with me. Seriously, call him up right now without me talking to him first." He held his phone out to me.
I pushed it back towards him. "No, Jackson." I shook my head. I closed my eyes to clam my anxiety some. When I opened them he was staring at me. "Continue."
"Ok..." He looked confused but layed his phone on the coffee table. "Well, she almost conned me into marrying her. Two weeks before we were to be wed I found out she wasn't pregnant."
I was completely confused. "How?"
"I over heard her talking to Abby. She was telling her how she did everything and how she planned it out. I burst in the room on her and just about hit her but instead I told her how much I hated her for ruining the one good thing I had in my life and left, leaving her standing there with a dumbfounded look on her face."
"Um...wow." I couldn't believe he had done that or that he had almost hit her.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, um...so what now?" I asked, not sure what he wanted.
"Can we try to start over?" I bit my lip.
"Um...I can't just go back to the way things were. I can't just up and start dating you again. We'll have to start from the very beginning."
"Does that mean no sex?"
I sighed, "As good as it is with you, yes."
"Damn. Alright. No sex. No dating. So we're going back to starting out as friends or getting to know each other first?" He looked hurt but I couldn't help it.
"Exactly. We're going to get to know each other again. I mean it has been 8 years. Alot has happened in both of our lives." I put my coffee down and scooted over next to him linking my arm with his and leaning my head against his shoulder. "I do still love you, Jackson. I always will. I gave you my heart long ago. Just give me a little time."
"I can give you all the time you need. As long as I'm here with you it doesn't matter to me."
"Thank you." I kissed his arm then moved to lay my head in his lap, lying on my back looking up at him. We stayed that way for hours just talking about little petty stuff.
